The Brandy House makes a superb self catering base from which to explore
the still undiscovered beauty of the Radnorshire/Shropshire
borders an area steeped in history, myth and legend and
visit Wales with it's many attractions.
Self catering - We converted an original stone barn
which has created a cosy holiday cottage for self catering guests
who and the
landscaped
terraced gardens are now well developed.
Stay in our traditional old stone farmhouse built several
hundred years ago or converted barn for Bed and Breakfast.
The Brandy
House is in Radnorshire which is a beautiful historic welsh
county bounded to the north by Montgomeryshire and
Shropshire, to the east by Herefordshire, to the south by
Brecknockshire and to the west by Cardiganshire. It is
wonderfully rural offering great scenery, abundant wildlife
and a rich history and where sheep out number people 50:1!
Once a 150 acre hill farm, The Brandy
House is now an idyllic smallholding of 10 acres in an elevated and
sheltered position with attractive and well established gardens with
wonderful views of the Upper Teme valley in rural Mid Wales. On the
grounds, we graze three horses and several Jacob sheep
This is an excellent place to stay for both
outdoor
activities
and
discovering the ruins and ancient towns
& villages of the Welsh/English borderlands. For the
ramblers, cyclists and
riders among you, delightful
bridle-paths and walks lead from the doorstep up on to
wonderful open hills and nature reserves where there are
endless opportunities for walking, cycling and riding. Self-guided
outdoor breaks are available
Pets welcome
With the endless
opportunities for walking right from our doorstep this makes a great
place to bring your dog with you on holiday.
We do welcome pets and ask
that you speak to us about it first as we have our own dog and cat -
and this is 'sheep country'!
Stay with
your horse
The country side offers fabulous
riding. With direct access onto 5000acres of Crown Estate
there are endless opportunities for exploring. We keep horses ourselves and offer
stabling and grazing facilities for those of you who want to
explore the area with your
own horse
We
are surrounded by some beautiful old trees and have an
abundance of bird and wildlife including owls, buzzards,
woodpeckers, welsh ponies, foxes and badgers, to mention
a few. In the springtime there is a wonderful range of
wildflowers including rare cowslips and wild primroses.
In the autumn the golden Larch trees are at their best.
You will find us
amongst the hills on the edge of the small
village of Felindre, midway between Knighton and
Newtown in the Heart of Wales, UK.
