Colt Start

Date April 3rd – 26TH  2013

Colt Starters             Mattie Cowherd-Evans and Jamie Evans

both 3* Parelli Licensed Instructors and Horse Development Specialists

The Brandy House is the perfect setting for your horse to learn & develop in a safe yet stimulating setting. Brandy House is a busy working rural tourism facility so there is lots of stimulus to create confident horses as well as a large arena and a dedicated natural “play” field with many challenging obstacles & patterns to ride & guide around and of course the open hills which make this location so unique.

Jamie & Mattie will have 5 students working under them this year, all of whom are working in level 3 & 4 of the Parelli programme & will be living on site to care for the horses in training as well as learning with their own horses. You will have a chance to meet the whole team & discuss your horse’s requirements when you arrive.

Whether your horse is coming to Jamie & Mattie to be started, re-started or to work through particular issues, the aim of the month is for your horse to develop a solid foundation from which to keep building higher and higher! The aim is for Horses & their owners to go home with the building blocks in place to be able to confidently:

a. Understand Parelli’s 7 games
b. Walk, trot & canter (both leads) on line & ridden
c.  Be able to hack out alone & with other horses

9 times out of 10 this can be easily achieved during the month course or less but in some cases further work will be needed. Jamie & Mattie will keep you informed of progress & their ongoing assessments of your horse and you will be able to discuss & work out with them how best to continue to progress & grow in your relationship with your horse.

After the first 10 hours (or whatever number you have requested) there will be a chance to discuss your horse’s progress either in person or on the phone. Then at the end of your horse’s time with us we highly recommend you have some lessons with Jamie & Mattie to help you with his/her further development.

You will receive a written report at the end of the training detailing how every hour was spent with your horse along with notes on the way the session went.
